Times Herald Record, circulation: 200,000. These letters to the editor were published over the course of seven months in 2003-2004. On this page you will find the
original articles exposing the letter to the editor hoax, and on the next page you can read
all the original printed Letters to the Editor written by Timothy Hull.
The Lou Tintarello files are a
collection of fabricated letters actually printed by the largest Hudson Valley
daily, The Times Herald Record. Timothy Hull wrote the letters to expose and illluminate the seriousness and negelct of the letters to the editors section of the newspaper. Many false characters were created with complex stories and identities that were fleashed out by Hull over time. Eventually the Times Herals Record caught on to the hoax, and the whole thing was spun as an Invader magazine project.
The authors of these letters are
fictional. They are meant to be humorous yet challenging.
